Tax Audit

Main Types of Tax Audits

  1. Simplified tax audit: The tax authority conducts the audit on the basis of the available data and the submitted tax return, without the physical presence of the taxpayer.
  2. Tax audit related to the enforcement of a state guarantee: The tax authority conducts the audit at the financial institution submitting the application (the beneficiary of the guarantee).
  3. Tax audit aimed at the fulfilment of specific tax obligations: The tax authority carries out a targeted audit to verify compliance with obligations relating to notification, filing of tax returns, data provision, record keeping, issuance and retention of documents, bookkeeping, and the payment of taxes and tax advances.
  4. Tax audit aimed at data collection: The tax authority may carry out test purchases, take inventory, examine the circumstances of the business operation (e.g. customers, turnover, tangible assets), compliance with social security regulations, statistical headcount, etc.
  5. Audit related to the verification of duty obligations: The tax authority examines compliance with deadlines and the correctness of payments.
  6. Subsequent tax audit: In typical cases, the first-instance tax authority examines the implementation of the findings of a previous audit, but such an audit may also be initiated at the request of the taxpayer if new facts or circumstances arise that would result in the modification of the findings of the previous audit.
